A Bold Ensuite Designed Around the Homeowner's Personality

Not every bathroom needs to be neutral. For this East Vancouver bathroom renovation, the homeowner wanted a space that reflected her personality—a bathroom that felt energetic, memorable, and completely her own.

The design began with a simple concept: let one bold colour become the focal point while surrounding it with timeless finishes that would never compete for attention. Rich red tiles and matching quartz countertop became the defining feature of the ensuite, balanced by crisp white subway tiles, a custom black vanity, and a black-and-white mosaic floor. The contrast creates a space that feels both dramatic and sophisticated.

While the colour makes the strongest first impression, careful attention was given to the materials, proportions, and layout to ensure the bathroom would remain functional and enjoyable for years to come. Every finish was selected to complement the overall palette while standing up to the demands of everyday use.

This project is a reminder that great interior design isn't about following trends—it's about creating spaces that reflect the people who live in them.
